Sol LeWitt made his first 'wall drawing' in 1968 in New York. In doing so, he opened up a new chapter in his art, a visual linguistic form that he later brought to Europe. The basic principles of these wall drawings were immediately theoretically ordered in two short writings in which the artist codified his desire `to make a work of art that was as two-dimensional as possible'.
