DESCRIPTION This is a beautiful Japanese kokeshi. Almost good condition Dimensions 29.5 × 11 × 11 cm artist: Watanabe Masao 渡辺 正雄(1917-2007) was born in Fukushima, won some art prize like prime minister prize. His kokeshi is in Nurnberg Toy Museum in Germany. Kokeshi are wooden handmade artisanal dolls from Japan. The most prevalent theory is that they appeared during the Tempo period (1830 - 1843) in the mountainous Tohoku region. Initially, they were intended as toys for the children. Later they became popular souvenirs and real decorative items, for some even collector items. NOITICE The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by DHL or FedEx depend on the situation.
