Migration Period Bronze Ring (No Reserve Price)

Migration Period Bronze Pentagram Ring with Five-Point Star 6th - 8th Century AD Migration period bronze ring engraved with five start monogram; 19.62 mm diameter, 3.89 grams. From a London private collector. The collection was formed in the 2000s and later dispersed on the EU art market. The pentagram on the bezel, is also known as the "Philosopher's Star" because the four side points represented the four elements of which they understood the universe to be made, clockwise: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire, with the topmost point representing Mind, and the center of the star representing Spirit. Many Romans wore it symbolizing rebellion against the more traditional gods of the Roman State, emphasizing Mind and Science triumphant over magic and ignorance. A Certificate of Authenticity can be provided upon request. 'For shipment between the UK and the EU, no export permit is needed but some import taxes may apply. The seller guarantees to have acquired this lot by legal means and he has the proper permits. The seller will inform the buyer about this if acquiring the proper permits and shipping the lot takes more than a few days.' The seller guarantees that he acquired this piece according to all national and international laws related to the ownership of cultural property. A provenance statement was seen by Catawiki. The seller will take care that any necessary permits, like an export license, will be arranged, and he will inform the buyer about the status of it if this takes more than a few days.
