Migration Period Silver Bracelet (No Reserve Price)

A pair of massive silver bangle bracelets, With faceted endings. Material: silver Dimensions: width 9.2 x high 6.9 cm, weight 75 grams and 9.3 x 6.8 cm, weight 75 grams (both: 150 grams), bar thickness: 5.5 - 9.4 mm. Dating: 5th-7th century. Bracelets with spiked ends appeared in the 5th century. They were worn by representatives of local elites in today's Czech Republic, the Middle Danube, northern Hungary and the northern Balkans. The faceting of the bracelet is a very rare feature. The closest analogy, both in morphological and territorial terms, comes from a deposit near Hřensko in northern Bohemia, dated with a Wiesbaden-type fibula. The few faceted silver flask bracelets are dated in very wide frames - from the mid-5th to the beginning of the 7th century (B. Wührer 2000). Bought from Polish antique dealer.
