Mexico. Municipality of Uruapán (State of Michoacán). 1/8 Real 1859 (No Reserve Price)

1/8 real Issuer Municipality of Uruapán (State of Michoacán) Type Standard circulation coin Year 1859 Many pieces from the state of Michoacán have featured attributes of fashion in Mexico since the War of Independence, such as bows and arrows, eagles and serpents, nopales and religious hats that represented the sentiments of the people about war and recent freedom. However, in some rooms emblems and ornaments of the Spanish colony and even representations of the American eagle and the coat of arms are preserved, although they are very rare and limited to a few municipalities. The Uruapan de Progreso coin of 1859 has a face value of 1/8 of a real, on the obverse a Phrygian cap like those of the silver reals of the time. Most of the Michoacán piece was flawed, and on many occasions there are misspellings or reversed letters in captions. The reverses do not always correspond to the obverses, and the yews vary in thickness and are not always regular. But these parts are still deteriorated by use and time. However, the designs they boast of demonstrate that, if the municipalities had had good elements, truly artistic numismatic specimens would have been produced.
