A house of the French Second Empire under Napoleon III based in Cognac. It was a Briton from London, Anthony Hardy, who founded this house in 1863. In 1869 in Amsterdam, this house obtained the diploma of excellence for its fine cognac champagne (a blend of cognac from the Grande Champagne 1er cru and small legally classified cognac champagne 2nd cru with a minimum of 50% Grand Champagne cognac). In 1891, in St. Petersburg, the Hardy house received the gold medal of the alliance as a tribute to Franco-Russian friendship. Today Maison Hardy is managed by a fifth generation.
