Yoruba Ibedji from Nigeria. They are presented standing, their bodies covered with sumptuous clothing adorned with a multitude of carefully arranged cowries. On the upper part of the abdomen they wear a large pendant adorned with decoration. Their alert face ends in a beak-shaped mouth and their diamond-shaped eyes are sculpted in relief. The headdress, which forms a sagittal crest, is enriched by lateral braids sculpted by regular cascading grooves. These works have a worn patina resulting from significant ritual use.
