Ancient Roman Glass Big Unguentarium with iridescense - 16.5 cm (No Reserve Price)

- The glass-making technique that the Romans had perfected was so refined that it is still used today in the traditional Murano glassworks in Venice, Italy. This technique made it possible to create vases with extremely thin and refined glass walls, transforming glass from a functional product to a luxury product. This technique was then revived by Islamic workshops at the height of their technology with the Abbasid and Umayyad kingdoms during the central centuries of the Middle Ages. This glass was so strong that many items survived completely undamaged just like this ointment jar. Registered shipping. Provenance/Known History: Ex. Private collection from Isreal. Collected in the 1990's. After that A&O Gallery, UK. Important information: - Due to new custom regulations we can no longer ship outside the E.U. Please make sure you have an EU shipping address before bidding. - A declaration of authenticity by my shop is provided with this lot. - Please do not pay for a won item before you are finished bidding in the auction. The system will not be able to combine your orders into one shipping if all items aren't paid at once.
