Parthian Empire, Artabanus III, Silver Drachm Sellwood 74.6 Ecbatana mint circa 79/80-81 AD. Obverse: Diademed bust of Artabanus III facing to the left with long, rectangular beard and straight hair, earring visible. Reverse: Arsaces I seated facing to the left, wielding bow forward, “AT” monogram below bow, legend in corrupted Ancient Greek surrounds. [Inscription, Greek; reverse] BAΣIΛEΩΣ BAΣIΛEΩN; APΣAKOY; EYERΓETOY ΔIKAIOY; EΠIΦANOYΣ ΦIΛEΛΛHNOΣ [Translation] Of the King of Kings, Arsaces, the Benefactor, the Just, God Manifest, the Philhellene. As well centred as possible for the type and struck on an attractively broad flan, sharp details each side and nice AMBER TONING through the devices, basically as struck, near Mint State. Ex.
