Byzantine Bronze Tongue-Shaped Buckle with an image of a Lion in Fascinating Byzantine Style.
Most impressive and classical example of the byzantine tradition of displaying the zoomorphic images very often seen on buckles. Abstractive and very interesting in semi-reclining position as if sneaking up quietly and preparing to attack, adapted to the shape of the buckle. A line and triangle frame gives additional decoration to the main zoomorphic motif.
One of the loops is missing, otherwise almost Intact with a beautiful brown patina.
