Set in a modern necklace setting. Heart amulets were associated with protection, symbolizing the vital organ that was believed to be the seat of one's emotions and moral consciousness. The heart, or "ib" in ancient Egyptian, played a crucial role in the Weighing of the Heart ceremony during the judgment of the deceased in the afterlife. Cf.
