Stelton - Arne Jacobsen - Ashtray (2) - Cylinda Line - Steel (stainless)

Arne Jacobsen’s Cylinda-line series for Stelton from 1967 was an immediate success, winning Danish and international design awards. His innovative use of lightly brushed, seamless stainless steel in cylindrical forms was sensational and has remained popular ever since. Cylinda-line items are featured in many international design museums, including the permanent collections at MOMA, NY and the V&A, London. These items are examples of the two sizes of ashtrays from the series (6.5cm x 7.5cm; 8cm x 10cm). The semi-spherical, hinged top rotates to drop ash/debris into the bottom container. Marked "Stelton" underneath (one with an early "AJ" signature), they are in excellent (near mint), vintage condition, with only light internal discoloration, and minor patina, mostly to the base, which is not very apparent when in use. The larger ashtray has a small dink on the underneath of the hinged lid (barely visible on photo #14), but this is not apparent when viwed from the visible top side of the lid Seller packs with great care (see reviews) and sends securely with insurance.
