Magnificent Jewelry Holder/Box with rose knob lid, produced by Herend - “ Rothschild Bird” Collection, well known hand painted pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered insects, in pristine condition. Lovely to display and useful on different occasions, this marvelous dish is a versatile piece, suitable for keeping sweets, holding personals or simply as a jewelry holder. This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree. This dish is in perfect condition, Like New - Never Used, marked with blue Herend shield mark and numbered, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of the description.
