A very uncommon 1950s Italian vase possibly by Aldo Londi for Bitossi. Very handsome alternating bands and pattern black and green glaze over a hand-incised brown pottery body. Bands are notable for their crisp, clean edges. Lip and interior are glazed in glossy dark chocolate brown. Though mid-century in origin, it would also look right at home in a contemporary-styled interior. Underside glazed green and marked by hand “462/18” and “Italy”. Height: 18 cm, diameter: 8 cm Condition: Good Wear consistent with age and use. In very good vintage condition. Bitossi & Figli factory, a happy association that would see him as a protagonist for more than fifty years, first as artistic director, then as a tireless collaborator.Londi merges tradition and contemporaneity to create a modern product.
