The Trappist Westvleteren is brewed by the monks of St. Sixtus Abbey. Five natural raw materials are used to brew three Trappist beers: Blond, 8 and 12. They each have their own color, taste and aroma. All beers are unfiltered and not pasteurized, with secondary fermentation in the bottle. All this benefits their taste and aroma. The Trappist Westvleteren is brewed and bottled within the Abbey and only offered for sale on site. Wooden bins of 24 bottles in the Abbey itself and a small package of 6 bottles in the meeting center ‘In de Vrede’. The Trappist Westvleteren complies with the strict regulations of the International Trappist Association, and therefore also bears the logo ‘Authentic Trappist Product’.
