Oil lamps, also called candles or lanterns, are used by various ancient civilisations, from prehistoric times, through the ancient Egyptians to the present day. The lantern is a vessel filled with oil in which a wick is placed on a projection and lit, bringing light into the home. Provenance: Ex collection H. W., North Rhine-Westphalia, since before 1980; Acquired at auction, December 2022, Munich (Germany). Statement seen by Catawiki. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days.
