Europe, Map - Italy / Marche / Ancona; M. Cadorin - Ancona - 1651-1660

Dimensions: 12 x 17 cm. (on sheet: 17 x 19.5 cm.). Condition: good (minor foxing) Verso: blank. Author: F. Scoto / Cadorin Publisher: Cadorin. Padova Note: from "Itinerario Overo Nova Descrittione de Viaggi Principali d Italia" Matteo Cadorin, known as Bolzetta, was a publisher, bookseller and printer, documented in Padua from 1639, about whom almost nothing is known from the literature of the repertoires. He is erroneously classified as an engraver by Bénézit, while Mariette and Heinecken already call him a publisher more accurately. Zani also writes of him as "painter, engraver, merchant". The nickname Bolzetta came to him from the Bolzetta booksellers and publishers of the Paduan Academy, known to us in the persons of Francesco and his son Pietro, documented between 1593 and 1621.
