Very rare Roman solid bronze club of Hercules amulet. Made to be worn by wrapping a strap around its upper portion.
Cast bronze amulet in the form of a wooden club with realistic-looking knobs projecting from the sides. The club tapers to a narrow end with a flat butt.
These amulets were most popular on the fringes of the Empire, among the Germanic peoples, who, according to Tacitus, had a particular affinity for the story of Hercules.
Length: ± 51,4 mm
Diameter: ± 9,7 mm
Condition: good and solid condition with well-preserved details. Appealing olive-green to dark patina.
