Ancient Luristan Bronze Axe Head Circa 2nd-1st millennium BC This cast-bronze axe head features a paddle-shaped blade that flares from the socket shaft. It is adorned with two open cylindrical flanges below and above the socket, while to the rear, there is a button-shaped protrusion flanked by engravings of abstract eyes. The surface displays layers of brown and green patina. Luristan, also known as Lorestan, is a region located in western Iran, encompassing parts of the modern provinces of Lorestan, Ilam, and Kermanshah. This region has a rich archaeological heritage dating back to ancient times, particularly during the Iron Age, approximately from the 12th to the 7th centuries BC. One of the most significant achievements of Luristan was its metallurgical industry, which flourished during the Iron Age.
