At the centre of the necklace is a pendant of pale green jade carved in the shape of Ouroboros. Intricate details include the scales that are incised all over the body and hard stone, white eyes. Ouroboros was a powerful and multifaceted symbol for many ancient cultures. It was often associated with renewal, transformation, and cyclical nature due to its shedding of skin, which was seen as a metaphor for rebirth and regeneration. Size: 260mm x 20mm; Weight: 14g Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously in a collection of a North London gentleman; formerly in a collection of Mrs B.
