Exclusive very rare Fischer & Mieg Pirkenhammer Art Deco figurine of a Young Female Nude, fabulous creation of the great artist Josef Lorenzl (1892 – 1950), in excellent condition. It depicts a beautiful young lady nude standing, partially covered by a white drape. Details of the face are amazingly painted, once again recognizing the talent of Josef Lorenzl. The figurine is very a rare Art Deco made by Fischer & Mieg Pirkenhammer Porzellan Manufaktur in former Czechoslovakia, now Czech Republic. Pirkenhammer porcelain factory was built in 1803 by Friedrich Höcke and Johann Gottlob List, in Karlovy Vary (also known as Karlsbad) in Bohemia, now Brezova, former Czechoslovakia and operated under the name "Friedrich Höcke". In 1811 it was bought by Johann Martin Fischer and Christopher Reichenbach, and its name was changed to "Fischer & Reichenbach". By the 1820's Pirkenhammer was considered the best porcelain in Bohemia and was recognised by a gold medal at the Vienna World fair in 1839. Josef Lorenzl was a famous Austrian sculptor and ceramicist of the Art Deco period, the same era as Ferdinand Preiss and Demetre Chiparus. Lorenzl started his career working at a foundry at the Vienna Arsenal, where he learned the techniques of bronze casting and produced many bronze and chryselephantine sculptures, latter using both bronze and ivory. Lorenzl's talents also extended to being a gifted ceramicist. He was captivated by the female form and produced pieces for Pirkenhammer, Keramos and Goldscheider. Products of the "Pirkenhammer" factory are extremely rare today as factory worked small limited number of figurines in the Art Deco period only. It is in excellent more to pristine condition, impeccable painting of the face and body, marked Pirkenhammer Czechoslovakia with original gold paper mark even, impressed numbered #4171, red numbered piece #0050 and impressed signed on the top of the base “Lorenzl”, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
