MITSUBISHI AGM5C ZERO FIGHTER (ZEKE) IJN Zero Fighter Type 52H (A6M5c) (About Zero Fighter Type 52) The Zero fighter continued to fly as the mainstay of the Imperial Japanese Navy throughout the Pacific War. In the latter half of the war, the Zero-sen Type 52 was developed to compete with the newest aircraft of the U.S. Army. In addition to two 20mm machine guns on the wings, two 13mm machine guns were added to the Special 52H, and together with the 13mm machine gun in the nose, it boasted a total of five machine guns. The Sakae 21 engine was the same as before, but the exhaust pipe was changed to a thrust-operated single exhaust pipe, and improvements were made to various parts, such as trimming the width to 11 m and making the ends of the pipes semicircular. The Zero-sen Type 52 continued to struggle until the end of the war, taking advantage of its powerful firepower.
