This rare first edition copy of this book by legendary Magnum photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson is an in depth exploration of the former Soviet Union. As one of the first Western photographers to be allowed access to post-war USSR, this book builds on his earlier work about the People of Moscow made in the early 1950s. Taken during the autumn of 1972 and the spring of 1973, the images in this book are divided into four sections and depicts scenes taken in the main cities of Leningrad and Moscow before exploring the hinterland of Russia, the Baltic states, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
