Icon - A very beautiful, hand-painted icon of St. Anne and the Virgin Mary - Wood

A very beautiful, hand-painted icon of St. Anne and the Virgin Mary. Saint Anna is the wife of Joachim and is venerated as a saint. Mary's parents are never mentioned in the canonical biblical texts; their story was first told in the apocryphal Proto-Gospel of James and the Gospel of Matthew, and then enriched with hagiographical detail over the centuries, all the way to the Golden Legend by Jacopo da Varazzin. Her image is present in the festive church calendar as a symbol of the continuation of the family and the holiness of people, of the truthful life in which Mary was brought up to be chosen by God to give birth to the Savior. The image in the icon is of the Eleusinian type and imitates the closeness of the Mother of God with the Child, known from many icons of this iconographic type. Saint Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary. She was the youngest daughter of a priest from Bethlehem. Her husband was Saint Joachim. Tradition tells that after a long time the spouses prayed fervently to God, an Angel of the Lord announced to them that a daughter would be born to them, through whom the blessing of the entire human race would come. After the birth of little Maria, her parents dedicated her to the temple when she was 3 years old. The icon of St. Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, depicts a holy woman about whom little is known The icon is hand painted on wood.
