Glazed ceramic Art Deco sculpture depicting a panther Germany ca 1900 Although it is unsigned, this is a quality sculpture and was propably made by Volksted in Germany.The first porcelain factory established in Sitzendorf was founded in 1760 by Georg Heinrich Macheleidt, under the protection of the prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, although in 1762 the manufacture was transferred to Volkstedt by order of the prince. In 1850 a new factory was opened, which began to stand out for its quality in 1884, when Alfred and Carl Wilhelm Voigt took over the management. It then began to manufacture parts in the Dresden style, with such success that by 1909 the factory was equipped with innovative steam-powered machinery.
