This Dogon artefact is one of my most beautiful items in my collection. It is an original, handmade artefact that was handed over to me from a local "artisan" in the Djenné region of Mali.
A representation of the Dogon culture, it presents itself with intriguing and meticulous details. Please understand that it has some minor signs of its age. In my opinion, it is truly a hand-crafted masterpiece; please look at all the pictures. It has always been stored inside a glass showcase.
MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, brown patina.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ).
SPECS: 26 cm length, about 15 cm height. Its weight is about 1,2 kg.
