Long John Silver is the seventh studio album by the American rock band Jefferson Airplane, and their last album of all new material until 1989. It was recorded and released in 1972 as Grunt

In July, the band embarked on a two-month tour of the United States, their first major tour since 1970.
Tour ended in September at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, with Balin as an encore.

The original vinyl LP release (1972) featured an album cover that folded into a replica of a cigar box.
The inside bottom of the box was covered with a photo of marijuana.

The cover jacket has some perforated cuts, which, when folded, turns the cover into a cigar/stash box; a photograph on the inside cover then gives the impression of a cigar box filled with marijuana.
The inner record sleeve has photography of cigars, labeled "JA" on one side, and the song lyrics and album credits on the other side.
