Hibi" is one of Masahisa Fukase's final works, a series of prints he made between 1990 and 1992 of cracks in the ground he photographed on his daily route, and colored each print himself. In February 1992, he exhibited this work along with his other series, "Shikkei '92," "Bukubuku," and "Bello Bello," at his solo exhibition "Shikkei '92" held at the Nikon Salon. Four months later, he fell down a flight of stairs in Shinjuku's Golden Gai district, suffering brain damage and closing his life as an artist.
