The Great Fire of Moscow in 1812 during the occupation of Moscow by French troops "Пожаръ Мockoвckoй" "L'incendie de Moscva" Salvatore Cardelli (based on the work of Rugendas) approx. 1813-1819 (The Hermitage dates its copy to 1812-1825) sheet approx. 60.5 x 47.5 cm (cut on the sides and bottom just beyond the borders of the plate print, at the top before) a few repaired tears (mainly on the upper margin) - in these places, on the verso, they were taped with tissue paper extremely rare historical sources do not state with certainty who started the fire - the retreating troops of Fyodor Rostopchin, Russian saboteurs, French occupiers - considering the extent of the destruction and sources of the fire, all versions may be true
