Les Sao ne sont pas à proprement parler une ethnie. C'est une civilisation, aujourd'hui disparue, ayant occupé une aire géographique s'étendant entre Cameroun, Tchad et Nigéria entre les XIIème et XIVème siècles. Ce très beau petit bronze est bien évidemment inspiré des très belles réalisations Sao. Le cheval est superbe, les deux guerriers ont la tête enveloppée dans un chêche, à l'instar des Touaregs d'aujourd'hui. La représentation du cheval est extêmement racée.
