An unavoidable chapter in history, the introduction of the single currency is considered a major milestone in the integration of the European economy. Launched on January 1, 1999, the euro entered circulation two years later, replacing the national banknotes and coins of 12 Member States. As stated on the issue page, “the euro is one of the fundamental elements in economic convergence between Member States. The euro is the most tangible identity of European citizens' participation in the construction of the Union. The euro is, in itself, an element of union. It is the currency of 19 Member States; 20, from January 1, 2023, when Croatia joins us. It is the currency of more than 340 million inhabitants and a symbol of European solidarity. The euro is an element of stability. Monetary policy, by ensuring price stability and recognizing the importance of financial stability, creates the conditions for balanced and inclusive economic growth.” This philatelic issue consists of two stamps, with face values of €0.57 and €0.95, with a circulation of 75,000 copies each, and also a philatelic block €4.
