Individuals do not gather to become a crowd, but rather individuals emerge vividly from the crowd for a moment and then dissolve into the crowd. Just as the individual has a face, this crowd has a rich array of facets. The individual is one of the myriad cells of the creature. At one point, I stopped being the gaze of the individual and became the gaze of the crowd, standing in the middle of the thronging crowd with my camera at the center of the vortex. It was a new experience, as if I had reconstructed myself, along with the world."
