Eiichiro Sakata - Juat Wait - 2006

Juat Wait Eiichiro Sakata Kyuryudou/2006/Japanese/218*305*20 Juat Wait" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Eiichiro Sakata, born in Tokyo in 1941. After graduating from the photography department of Nihon University College of Art in 1965, he joined Light Publicity, where Kishin Shinoyama and others had also worked. However, he left the following year and moved to the United States. Eiichiro Sakata studied under Richard Avedon, a legend in portrait photography and one of the leading photographers of the 20th century. He is also famous as the photographer who took the cover photo for the weekly magazine "AERA" for nearly eight years after its first issue, and is a heavyweight in the world of commercial photography. This book is a collection of portraits taken by Sakata on the streets of New York City when he was taking his first steps as a photographer with Avedon, and is a powerful collision of the energy of the people of New York in the 1960s and the energy of the young Sakata. In terms of time period and style, they remind us somewhat of Diane Arbus.
