With Ken Ohara Twin Palms Publishers/2005/Japanese/210*260*20 Ken OHARA was born in 1942 and moved to the U.S. in 1962 after dropping out of Nihon University to study at the Art Students League of New York. He later worked as an assistant for Richard Avedon and Hiro Wakabayashi. Obara then embarked on a unique project that would later make him a household name in the world of photography. He took portraits of people living in New York City and its suburbs, cropped them into extreme close-ups and laid them out in parallel lines. This project was published in 1970 as the book "ONE" and received a tremendous response in Japan and the United States. This "One Hour Exposure Portrait" series is reminiscent of the ONE series. This conceptual book includes not only portraits of people, but also exposed portraits of memos and book phrases.
