Today you're bidding on an unique, original and hand-crafted masterpiece. This artefact has received particular attention to detail by its maker, a Malian craftsman or "artisan". It was gifted to me during my stay in the Djenné region in Mali.
This statue is a Dogon person/ancestor bounded in a wheel, artefact of the Dogon culture. It has always been stored inside a glass showcase.
MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, aqua patina.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ).
SPECS: 170 mm height, 140 mm width. About 840 g.
