Publius Vergilius Maro, known simply as Virgil (Latin: Publius Vergilius Maro), Andes (Mantua), 70 BC – Brindisi, 19 BC, was a Roman poet, author of three works, among the most famous in Latin literature: the Bucolics (Bucolica), the Georgics (Georgica), and the Aeneid (Aeneis).

Rare Parisian edition with preface in French. Coeval full leather binding with golden titles and friezes printed on the spine, marbled endpapers; pp. XXVIII 390 (2); signs of use, overall a good copy.
Chalcographic portrait of the author on the title page, chalcographic vignettes, and a plate engraved in copper, tipped-in and repeatedly folded, illustrating the places of Aeneas’ travels.
