Very rare heavy zinc alloy plate for gold hot foil printing on leather and other materials. This very rare plate is inspired by the style of Pierre-Paul Dubuisson, a bookbinder belonging to a dynasty of bookbinders, founded in Paris at the end of the 17th century, of which Pierre-Paul Dubuisson is, with his father René (d. 1776), the most prominent representative. He was appointed master bookbinder on 2 May 1746, was elected guard in 1756 and appointed Royal bookbinder on 12 October 1758. As his father did, he specialised in binding almanacs decorated with plaques and the workshop produced gilding for other bookbinders, including Antoine-Michel Padeloup. Pierre-Paul Dubuisson had also created a very important genealogical collection.
