Info on the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing;

The W 198 I (300SL Coupé) is the type that most appeals to the imagination with its vertically opening doors. This is why the car got the nicknames: Flügeltür, Gullwing, and Vleugeldeur. Initially, it was designed purely for racing and therefore only built in an edition of 10 copies in 1952. The car was used in speed races such as the Mille Miglia, the Carrera Panamericana and other races, in which the car achieved great success.
The car was equipped with the M 198 engine, which propelled the 1179 kg car to 100 km/h in 9 seconds. This 3-litre 6-cylinder inline engine had a Bosch direct-injection system which produced 175 hp, 60 hp more than the standard 300 engine. The top speed was 225 km/h. When it became clear that this car was very popular among sports car enthusiasts, 1,400 copies of the 300SL Coupé were built between 1954 and 1957. This engine received more modifications over the course of time, increasing its power to 215 hp and its top speed to somewhere between 235 and 269 km/h depending on the type of rear axle transmission. Options for engine modifications and comfort enhancement were also offered. The bodywork of this type was also available in aluminium, to achieve a weight reduction of 158 kg. A limited edition of 29 copies was produced.

Artist’s statement:
The driving force behind my artwork is an enduring interest in cars, sports and luxury goods. During my development as an artist, I created my own style that has developed over the years. Recent works are somewhat freer, although attention to detail is still important to me. Some works fall more under street art, others may fall under pop art. Paint with mixed techniques from oil paint to acrylic. Always on linen canvas. The original canvases are for sale on time and are only made in a very exclusive and low edition of art prints. All reproductions are limited, personally signed and numbered. Besides working in Formula 1, I also like to capture classic race cars on canvas. The past year I started painting exclusive watches on request. The Rolex brand has often been the subject. I also make commission art on request.
