LOT DESCRIPTION:
Ancient Egyptian pale green faience ushabti with painted hieroglyphs.
Third Intermediate Period, 21st-22nd Dynasty (c. 1070-715 B.C.)

Mummiform, wearing headdress leaving the ears exposed. Black painted band around the head with knot and ribbons hanging on the reverse Carrying a pair of hoes, also painted black, with seed bag hanging down the centre of the back. Single vertical column of hieroglyphs painted in black down front. Only "The Osiris, Aa...." is certain. The name possibly ending "Pa". Nice detail to face.

A very similar example, probably for the same owner, from the Julian Bird collection, UK, but with a single vertical black line down the front instead of hieroglyphs, was sold by Helios Gallery, Bath, UK, in 2017.

CONDITION: Fair condition. Foot missing. Two original fragments from the end of the legs re-attached. Nose, mouth and hands worn. Mounted on custom perspex display mount.

Please note that one-word condition categories of Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good and Excellent are highly subjective. Therefore, it is recommended that buyers do not solely rely on these categories when bidding. Instead, before bidding, buyers should make themselves aware of condition through the lot description and all available photos, as these provide the definitive information about preserved condition.

The seller asserts they acquired this item in a legal manner.
