Dear Sir, Please allow me to clarify that your order was not canceled due to the low purchase price. I would have been more than willing to ship the item you purchased. Unfortunately, the issue is of a different nature. I am located in the United States, and currently there is no expedited shipping option available for less than 70–100 euros. On a previous occasion, I shipped an order using the standard postal service; however, the package was ultimately lost in transit. While you would, of course, receive a refund and not lose your money, I would incur the loss of the pendant due to the inability to reliably deliver to your location. Roman intaglio not as described: surface/edges look freshly finished and uniform, not “light wear consistent with age”. I doubt the attribution. Please approve return+refund.

The feedback reflects a misunderstanding of both historical chronology and cultural attribution. The object was correctly described as belonging to the Republican artistic tradition and dated to the 1st century AD. The formal end of the Roman Republic in 27 BC does not exclude the continuation of Republican stylistic and technical features into the early Imperial period, particularly in gem engraving, where such continuity is well documented. Regarding the alleged absence of wear, it should be noted that on hard gemstones such as carnelian the lack of macroscopic abrasions is not a reliable indicator of non-authenticity. Surface preservation depends on factors including material hardness, usage, depositional context, and possible ancient re-polishing. The engraving quality, treatment of grooves, surface planes, and overall stylistic coherence are consistent with an early Imperial production. Therefore, the allegation of non-authenticity is not supported by objective technical evidence.
