The object was correctly described as belonging to the Republican artistic tradition and dated to the 1st century AD. The formal end of the Roman Republic in 27 BC does not exclude the continuation of Republican stylistic and technical features into the early Imperial period, particularly in gem engraving, where such continuity is well documented.
Regarding the alleged absence of wear, it should be noted that on hard gemstones such as carnelian the lack of macroscopic abrasions is not a reliable indicator of non-authenticity. Surface preservation depends on factors including material hardness, usage, depositional context, and possible ancient re-polishing.
The engraving quality, treatment of grooves, surface planes, and overall stylistic coherence are consistent with an early Imperial production.
Therefore, the allegation of non-authenticity is not supported by objective technical evidence.

Occasionally, two different bidders may show up in the bidding history with the same bid amount. This occurs when one user's bid is exactly the same as an automatic (maximum) bid placed by another user earlier. Since the auto-bid was placed first, this takes preference. The bidding history will show both bids, with the auto-bid ranked as the higher of the two.
