This is a wonderful globe with a simplified map of the ancient world, created by the Italian Mercurio d'Oro. The metal ball and rings revolve separately in both directions around the light, bronze-coloured wooden frame. The wide band around the metal rings shows the Zodiac signs on pasted paper. The paper and the drawings on the globe and the rings are in excellent condition, as you can see on the pictures. On the wooden frame which is in impeccable condition, the months of the year, the latitude and longitude are pictured on paper. On one side the paper is slightly damaged and a bit loose from the frame. Easy to repair if desired. See photos for details. The arrow is not damaged but some paint flaking off. On the bottom of the base is the original paper sticker by Mercurio d'Oro, confirming its authenticity. Also the base of the frame is intact and gives the sphere its stability. A very beautiful globe, not too large (30 x 20 cm) perfectly suitable to stand on a bookshelf or a desk.
