This fossil Giant Clam shell (Tridacna gigantea) was found in Tanzania in 2013 using GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) This clam species became extinct during the late Pleistocene period, around 180.000 years ago.
This particular Clam shell is the largest ever found, 355 kg (783lb). Its estimated age is 240-260.000 years.
It has been polished to perfection and is of museum quality. Currently being showcased in the US. Easy worldwide export/import is possible as it is an extinct species, unlike today's Giant Clam species Tridacna gigas which is protected by CITES, hence export/import only with CITES documentation. The Clam comes with its Certificate of Provenance.
