Once the round started, they wound it. Every time they had to pass a spot they would introduce a key into a slot and an ink tape inside would print the hour on a paper roll (it is all complete, see the photos). It was a good method of control on the guard, since all was recorded after each day. When the round was finished the boss would extract the paper roll and check it. It could not be manipulated since if you open the lid it has a small knife that cuts the paper roll, and thus the guard could not manipulate anything to deceive his boss.
