This very unusual chess set consists of two football teams with coaches, goalkeepers and footballs. The chessboard represents the grass and has green playing fields. The teams in red and blue could be Manchester United and Manchester City, but there are of course more options possible. The design is probably from P. Chiari, the Italian artist known for the style of the chessboard and chess pieces. The chess set is in good condition; two of the chess pieces were broken but have been inconspicuously repaired. The chessboard and the chess pieces are clearly visible on the many detailed photos. The board also shows light discolouration and wear. The king is no less than 11.5 cm tall.
