The British Admiralty paid the sum of 20,000 British pounds, equal to one million today, for the prototype of the first working chronometer. This replica chronometer truly is a wonderful piece, made after an original by famous instrument maker John Poole. This clock with a diameter of 100 mm is mounted on concentric brass rings, called gimbals and gimballed in a wooden case, with two beautiful copper handles on both sides. Gimbals compensate for the stamping and rolling of the ship. The clock is powered by a Japanese Quartz movement, which works on two AA batteries. Batteries are included.
If desired, the seller can send a link to view the correct operation of the chronometer. The clock will be packaged and shipped with a Track & Trace code.
