Delphine Boël is the fourth child of King Albert II of Belgium and his mistress Sybille de Selys-Longchamps. After the divorce of her parents, she moved to London. She was a rebellious teenager who did not ground well at a conventional school and then received an art education.
Her work refers quite openly to her royal origins. She works, among other things. with crowns, thrones and the colours of the Belgian flag. The secret of who her father was only known in October 1999, with the publication of a biography of Queen Paola, written by Mario Danneels. In 2003 she became a mother to a daughter, Joséphine Boël. Since it was known who her father is, her works have increased in value.
