Bronze/brass antique ship's steering station that was used on board. The handles on the steering wheel are made of wood, the rudder indicator shows the position of the rudder so that the rudder can be seen on the bridge.  A wonderful addition to any nautical collection. In very good condition, comes from a private collector hence its been very good taken care of. In very good WORKING condition with usual aging signs which is unusual for antique items, for a better impression about the condition see the pictures as they are part of the description. The weel has been replaced by it's previous owner. Another partucularity of this station is that it was never used on a ship because usually there is a code after “H.G“ John Hastie & Co. Ltd Greenock  Dimensions:  Height 49cm  Diameter wheel 32cm  Diameter foot 18cm  Weight approx. 8 kg.  In 1845, John Hastie, an engineer, opened a small workshop in Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland, and produced technical products. In 1853 he patented the first self-contained steering system and continued to produce manual steering devices of the right-and-left screw principle. In 1870, John Hastie began manufacturing steam control equipment. The company became a limited liability company in 1898, known as John Hastie & Co. Ltd. From 1903, the company devoted itself to the production of steering equipment and was a pioneer in the use of electric-hydraulic steering devices at the beginning of the 20th century. Source: Archives of the University of Glasgow.  Insured shipping with track ID / D Due to the weight value and measurements, I have to insure the item for a value of 1000€ and use an extra large box which makes the shipping 20€ more expensive than usual I hope you understand!
