This Hungarian compass (type Bézard UBK) was produced in 1949 by the company MOM (Magyar Optikai Mňvek, Hungarian Optical Works). The logo 41 is of the company during the Communist era. The compass was produced for the Hungarian army, but according to the Compass Museum it is claimed that it was also used by the North Vietnamese troops during the wars of independence (first against France and then against the US), despite the language used for the word DIRECTION (IRÁNY) and the cardinal points. Dimensions when folded: 22x70x80 mm, diameter compass card: 58 mm The compass is in good condition and has a liquid-dampened needle. Please see the photos for details.
