Gae Aulenti - Vistosi - Pöytävalaisin (1)
A lovely table lamp designed by Gae Aulenti for Italian lighting company Vistosi. Signed “Vistosi”. The thick clear glass shade has a murrine interior with green, yellow and turquoise pattern inside and a dark black glass rim. There is a single fitting in the centre with original hanging wire. Re wired with new fittings and PAT tested. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Gae Aulenti produced furniture for Milan's major design houses, including Knoll, Zanotta and Kartell, as well as lighting for Vistoti, Artemide, Stilnovo and Martinelli Luce. Murrine is one of the oldest glass making processes and can be traced back to the Phoenicians between 1500 and 300 BC. It was originally brought into Italy In 61 BC by Pompeo a military commander and Roman politician, first ally and later opponent of Julius Caesar. The lamp will be shipped in a wood box
